Bible Society Australia and HammondCare are pleased to invite you to our 2019 Faith for Life seminars, as we explore Memory, Worship and Dementia. Faith for Life series editor, the Reverend Professor John Swinton from Aberdeen University will be our keynote speaker. We will also hear valuable insights from HammondCare dementia consultants and pastoral carers on helping those living with dementia to worship God and engage with His Word. The suite of Faith for Life biblical resources for people with dementia will be available for purchase on the day.
John Swinton is Professor in Practical Theology and Pastoral Care and Chair in Divinity and Religious Studies at the University of Aberdeen. He is an ordained minister of the Church of Scotland who for more than a decade worked as a registered mental health nurse. John is the author of numerous books exploring dementia, mental health and disability, and is the Series Editor of the Faith for life resources.
Rev Andrew Nixon will chair the seminars and will introduce a number of experienced HammondCare staff who are highly skilled in dementia care. He heads up a team of dedicated Pastoral Care Coordinators who provide spiritual care for more than 16,500 clients and their families, 4,000 HammondCare staff and 1,000 amazing volunteers every year! Andrew also has a very personal journey with dementia with his dad.
