I'm raising funds for the Bible Society and I'd love your support.

Hi Friends and Family,

Dale and I are once again taking part in a Bike for Bibles fund raising activity.  The ride starts in freezing, cold Canberra on October 7, and finishes on the following Saturday 11th October. I know I said last time that I'd never do another BfB ride (I've just turned 80 for heavens sake!!), but this time I'm a roadie driving the support vehicle, and Dale is the cook's assistant. Whatever you can give to support us in this very worthwhile literacy project to Mozambique would be very much appreciated.

Mozambique, one of the world’s poorest nations, grapples with over 50% of its population living below the poverty line. The religious landscape is diverse, predominantly Christian, yet literacy challenges hinder easy understanding of the Bible. Bible Society Australia is supporting Mission Educate in running a Bible based literacy project designed to provide basic literacy, numeracy and life skills. It targets those living in impoverished city areas and rural communities who have little access to education and works with churches who have very few literate people among their communities.

Conducted in community settings, the classes focus on reading, numeracy, and essential life skills like nutrition, cooking and horticulture. In 2025, through four full-time staff and 19 facilitators, this project maintains 20 groups in three provinces, benefiting 650 participants.
