In 2005 I was 19 years old & made the decision to join the Army Reserve where I was later sent to do 7 weeks training in NSW.
I went from little bit of life experience with the comforts of home to complete chaos, shouting and very long days. I still remember from the stress of it all I didn’t sleep for the first 2 days.
One week into my training we were able to attend church for a short period where I met the chaplains & remember being a very scared teenager, wanting to just quit & go back home.
After some encouraging words from the Chaplain, he passed me a small camouflage bible which was from the bible society.
I still have this bible to this day & after receiving it, it gave me the strength reading a little bit every day to continue to go forward. I later completed my training & spent 6 years with the Army Reserve overall.
I am very thankful for this bible which was given to me for free & I feel honoured to help return the favour. Please help me & others to reach this goal to assist others in to receive God’s word when they need it most.
I'm raising funds for the Bible Society and I'd love your support.
I'm fundraising for the Bible Society by challenging myself to walk 72km over four days on the Bibbulmun Track Hike in WA. The funds I raise will support the work of Bible Society chaplains serving in hospitals, emergency services, prisons and the armed services.
The Bibbulmun Track is a long distance walking track stretching 1,002 kilometres from Kalamunda to Albany through some of the most beautiful areas of south-west Western Australia.
Bible Society’s Bibbulmun Track Hike is celebrating 22 years of walking for a great cause. Hikers keen to do their part have covered different sections of the track over the years, raising $116,000 for Bible work while enjoying the great outdoors.
